Special Education Accountability Doctor

Dr. Bonnie Haecker, the founder of SEAD Services, has over 30 years of public school experience in special education as a teacher, coordinator, and special education director.  Her experience has provided her with extensive knowledge and understanding of special education and disability laws as well as knowledge of how public schools operate. Since officially retiring from public education in 2017, she has focused on consulting and advocating for students with learning differences.

Commitment to Students and Families

Dr. Haecker is committed to helping students maximize their educational experience through advocacy, consulting, and training. She emphasizes improved communication between schools and parents/guardians by focusing on accountability measures such as documentation and progress monitoring. Dr. Haecker assists students, families and schools to develop and implement appropriate educational plans, ensuring these plans are reinforced by accountability measures like data collection and progress monitoring. The ultimate goal is to foster collaboration between students, their parents and schools to empower individuals and families to advocate for themselves.

Why is accountability so important?

Accountability is crucial for student success. It involves being held responsible for the outcomes of a given task. In the context of special education, accountability means collecting data to verify that services have been provided, student progress is being monitored, and affirms the student achievement results on IEP goals. It also serves as an excellent method of communication between parents and school regarding how a student is progressing in school.
